About Medical Pendants
A medical alarm is an alarm system designed to signal the presence of a hazard requiring urgent attention and to summon emergency medical personnel. Other terms for a medical alarm are PERS,Personal Emergency Response System or medical alert.
Typical systems have a wireless pendant or transmitter that can be activated in an emergency. When the medical alarm is activated, the signal is transmitted to an alarm monitoring company's central station, other emergency agency or other programmed phone numbers. Medical personnel are then dispatched to the site where the alarm was activated.
Elderly people and disabled people who live alone commonly use/require medical alarms.
Our Medical Pendant
At 1st Defense Security we recommend that anyone who is elderly, disabled or prone to accidents add a medical pendent to their alarm system. This pendant is a wearable device used to quickly alert the monitoring station that you are having an emergency. Our pendent can be worn as a necklace pendant, wrist watch or attached to a wall. Each application has its advantages and you get to choose which is best for you.
Elderly and disabled tend to lean towards the pendant as it is always on them and is easily within reach when they need it. But if you are on oxygen you might opt for the wrist watch to keep it from interfering with the tubes. The wall mount is good to place in locations that injuries are likely to occur like the bathroom or kitchen. This option is also good for home based businesses. For instance if you work out of your garage creating wood works you may want one in your garage incase of any serious injuries.
The medical pendant can also be programmed so instead of sending a medical duress signal it will send a panic signal alerting the monitoring station that you need the police NOW. With notes added to your account the monitoring station will know your situation and will notify the police that so they will be fully prepared to protect you and themselves when they arrive.
